Sun-damaged skin

Description - physicians:

Remove the effects of sun damages on your patient’s skin

The main cause of photo-aging of the skin is long-term sun damage, this will affect the skin in different ways depending of skin type and ethnicity. Examples of sun damage:  benign pigmented lesions such as solar lentigines, ephelides, enlarged pores and wrinkles, all arise from sun exposure as well as the natural aging of the skin.

Pigmented lesions can vary in size, shape and colour. It is always important to ensure that the lesion is not malignant before initiating the treatment.

The Ellipse treatment

The Ellipse Selective Waveband Technology (SWT®) treatment works by directing well-controlled pulses of light into the upper skin layer. The light is absorbed by two of the body's own natural chromophores - melanin in the pigmented areas and haemoglobin in the blood. Both these pigments convert the light energy into heat. This heat is used to destroy the parts of the cells in which the melanin is stored, and to damage the walls of the vessels supplying blood to the areas where vascular damage is seen. This technique is called "Selective Photothermolysis”.

The visible light produced by the Ellipse SWT® system is carefully controlled to produce the correct pulse length and right amount of energy to destroy the targets without damaging surrounding tissue. Photo rejuvenation is a quick and simple treatment, that does not interfere with your patients’ normal daily routine, and repairs sun-damage found on the face, neck, chest and hands.

Alternatively sun-damaged skin can be treated using Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) with the PL 400.

Advantages
The combination of the Ellipse Square Pulse Technology which minimises the risk of side effects by ensuring consistent intensity of energy throughout the pulse and the Dual Mode Filtering that eliminates unnecessary and potential harmful wavelengths, allowing only those that are beneficial to the treatment. This ensures that the treatment is done without damaging the surrounding tissue, without the need for active skin cooling. The results are further enhanced by the short pulse available in the Nordlys system. Ellipse SWT® offers clinically proven, safe and effective treatments of the following conditions with excellent results:

Name - physicians:

Skin texture / pore size

Description - physicians:

The aging process leads to a degradation of skin quality. As the skin ages, it becomes thinner and loses its elasticity making the skin appear more rough, uneven and pores tend to become enlarged. The degraded skin texture and enlarged pores on face can make the skin appear unhealthy and aged. Enlarged pores will also increase other skin care problems, such as blackheads, especially for people with oily skin.

Treatment available with PR type applicators.
